Half dragon, Half Human, All Mayhem!

Meet Fafnir, a young dragon-human hybrid, and her gang of Drakes. The idea for Fafnir's character was swirling around in my head throughout high school, but she finally burst out of my head and onto paper during the summer of 2017. Fafnir's signature shaggy fur is a holdover from when she was originally half demon and now serves to connect her more to her human half, as hair is a uniquely mamalian trait. Her black and purple color palette was inspired by Maleficent's dragon form with her horns being loosely modelled after a bison. For Fafnir's scrappy, breathe-fire-first-ask-questions-never personality, I looked to Louise Belcher from Bob's Burgers and Bakugou from My Hero Academia for reference.

The smaller dragons are called Drakes and were created by Fafnir out of dragon magic and an overwhelming desire for friends. They act as something of a dragon hive-mind, all of them sharing their "sister's" feral personality and a single brain cell. Having the Drakes around gives Fafnir an ensemble cast of little draconic minions to play off of, as well as a way of showing her soft side that she tries very hard to keep hidden.
